September is National Preparedness and with the horrors of Hurricane Dorian fresh on everyone’s mind, SERVPRO of Edgewater/Deale-Churchton/Lothian wants to ensure you are prepared.

Here are three tips to help you prepare:

Create an emergency kit.

  • Water - one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation
  • Food - at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food
  • Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert
  • Flashlight
  • First aid kit
  • Extra batteries
  • Whistle to signal for help
  • Dust mask to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place
  • Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
  • Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
  • Manual can opener for food
  • Local maps
  • Cell phone with chargers and a backup battery

Get an Emergency Ready Profile.

  • A no-cost assessment of your facility.
  • A concise profile document that contains only the critical information needed in the event of an emergency.
  • A guide to help you get back into your building following a disaster.
  • Establishes SERVPRO of Edgewater/Deale-Churchton/Lothian as your disaster mitigation and restoration provider.
  • Identification of the line of command for authorizing remediation work to begin.
  • Provides facility details such as shut-off valve locations, priority areas, and priority contact information.
